The Bedford Museum & Genealogical Library is proud to present the return of the “O” Gauge model railroad display. This popular event is the highlight of the Museum’s Christmas Season. The layout will take up our third floor and features a double track with a tunnel, trestle, and several village scenes. The wrap around backdrop travels from dawn to the middle of the night with Santa and his reindeer. Different trains run on the track each day so be sure to come back and see which one is on which day. The Polar Express will be featured during the two weeks the children are out of school. Thomas the Tank Engine will also be returning with his own interactive layout. Each year the Bedford Central Railroad Group updates and modifies the display so that it is not the same year after year. This year will be no different. However, the group is keeping the modification a secret until Opening day.
Opening day will be Friday Nov. 23rd and the trains will run Monday through Saturday until Saturday Jan. 26th. During this wonderful time the Museum will be open Monday through Saturday 10am to 5pm. On the three Friday’s leading up to Christmas we will be staying open until 8pm. We will be closed on major holidays and severe weather. We will also be collecting new and gently loved stuffed animals for the Teddy Bear Brigade. The Teddy Bear Brigade is a part of Gleaning for the World that collects stuffed animals and sends them to disaster areas in the US and to war torn areas in other countries. Last year we were able to collect several hundred stuffed animals that went to places like Honduras, Guyana, and Chattanooga, TN.
