A convoy of 250 emergency responders from around New England left from Burlington Mall yesterday morning to deliver Christmas cards to a Lynchburg boy with cancer. Virginia State Police issued a call for the holiday cards as part of a special wish by six-year-old Nathan Norman, who is terminally ill with brain cancer. Sergeant Gerard McDonough of the Burlington Police Department thought more could be done, and he organized fellow officers and first responders from four states to take part in the convoy. The group is so large that instead of going to Nathan’s home, the first responders will gather Liberty’s football field today as part of a surprise tribute for Nathan.
