Nelson County Looking At Changes To District

The Nelson County Board of Supervisors is considering leaving the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission and joining the Region 2000 Local Government Council-OR- possibly belonging to both and what the cost would be. Some of the considerations are geographical boundaries, travel time and common economic interests. Although Nelson belongs to the Thomas Jefferson district, it participates in some of Region 2000’s initiatives already, including the use of the landfill in Campbell County. The written comment period on the possibility of changing districts will end on Dec. 19.
