Nelson County Schools Recognized For Green Policy

Nelson County placed third in the state for its green efforts in this year’s Virginia School Board Association’s green school challenge. Since adopting a sustainability policy in August 2011, Nelson schools have implemented various green practices and ideologies. Among their many goals, is having every school recycling cans and plastic bottles and every class recycling paper with 34 tons of paper recycled in 2011 alone. This is the second year Nelson has competed in the smallest student population category and received a silver certification.
