Remembering Victims Of Shooting

About 40 people gathered in front of the Rustburg Courthouse last night for a candlelight vigil to remember the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings. Meanwhile, veterans who gather each Friday at MONument Terrace in Lynchburg will hold a vigil today at 1pm. They will read the names of the children killed in the shooting and hold flags in their honor.

Governor Bob McDonnell is standing in solidarity with Connecticut Governor Dan Malloy. A moment will be observed at 9:30 a.m.to mark exactly one week since a gunman killed 20 students and six educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. McDonnell has requested the observance in calling for a day of mourning for the victims of last week’s massacre. McDonnell says, quote, “Our hearts continue to be heavy for all those in Newtown, Connecticut who are mourning the losses of 26 of their own one week after this senseless tragedy.”
