The Governor Has A Proposition For Lawmakers

Gov. Bob McDonnell has a proposition for lawmakers: Public school teachers would get 2 percent pay raises if legislators make it easier to fire incompetent teachers. The governor is calling for a two-percent salary increase for the state’s public school teachers, guidance counselors, librarians, instructional aides, principals and assistant principals. It would represent the first pay raise for teachers in the past five years. is asking for nearly $59 million as the state’s share for the raises for the fiscal year starting July 1.
