The Academy of Fine Arts has received a $25,000 grant from the Wal-Mart Foundation, ear-marked to support children’s programming in the performing and visual arts. Last year, more than 1,200 students under the age of 18 participated in the arts education programs offered by the Academy. According to the News & Advance, this is the second grant the organization has received in as many months; in December, Lynch’s Landing awarded the Academy a $25,000 grant to support the continued restoration of the historic Academy of Music Theatre.
