The city of Bedford has enacted a $20 zoning permit fee that will remain in place after the city transitions to a town government in July. The News & Advance reports, the fee applies to situations where a change in zoning use occurs but no construction activity follows. Bedford City Council voted Tuesday to amend land development regulations so the measure can take effect. According to the article, even though the county won’t absorb the new town until later this year, it will assume oversight of the building code enforcement now because the city’s department head recently retired.
