Civil Rights Poet Visits Lynchburg

Poet Maya Angelou spoke to a packed house at Randolph College last night; hundreds of people had to be turned away before the event. She shared her personal stories and encouraged the audience to find poetry that speaks to them. Angelou is perhaps best known for her autobiography “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.” She’s been a civil rights activist and spoke at the first inauguration of President Bill Clinton.
