The legal battle to fly the Confederate flag from the streetlight poles of Lexington will go back to court. The Sons of Confederate Veterans in July challenged an ordinance that was passed in 2011 that limited the types of flags that can be flown from city-owned light poles. The group claimed that the city abused their free speech rights, but a Roanoke Federal District Court judge threw out the group’s lawsuit against the city. The 4th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in Richmond will hear the case on March 20.
