GLTC Prepares For New Transfer Center

The Greater Lynchburg Transit Company will break ground on its new transfer center this month. The new 8,000-square-foot facility on Kemper Street across from the train station will create a bigger hub for the public bus system with amenities that include indoor waiting, public restrooms and an on-site ticket counter. The current transfer site at The Plaza Shopping Center has long been considered insufficient. GLTC started developing plans for a new center in 2008. The project is slated to begin on Jan. 14 and is expected to take 12 to 15 months to complete.
