Each side of the gun debate will be present today at the state Capitol. They will gather to celebrate the life of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as well as speak about the issue of gun violence which has been the big topic all across the country since the deadly mass shooting in Newtown, Connecticut last month. Last Thursday, a sub-committee of the House Committee on Militia, Police and Public Safety tossed out measures to ban sales of assault-style weapons and large magazines. Also last week, a Senate Courts of Justice Committee scrapped a similar set of measures.
