Helmets Are Still Required On Motorcycle

The helmet law for Virginia motorcyclist was upheld yesterday by a House transportation subcommittee. Proponents of a new bill, that would have lifted the requirement, failed to change the minds of state lawmakers. The bill’s sponsors were out-numbered by lobbyists for insurance companies and representatives of other groups that opposed it in Virginia. Other subcommittees have approved the measure in previous years, but it has never passed on the House of Delegates floor. 31 states have already repealed their helmet laws.
