Unemployment fell from December 2011 to December 2012 in every Lynchburg-area locality other than the city of Bedford, according to the Virginia Employment Commission. The News & Advance reports, data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics released Wednesday showed a slight increase in regional unemployment from month to month, including Amherst, Campbell and Nelson counties but all were more than half a percentage point below their unemployment rates in the year prior. The City of Bedford was the only locality with an unemployment rate above the national one of 7.6 percent.
