Lawmakers Recommend Mining Regulations For Uranium

Proposed uranium mining of a large deposit of the ore in Pittsylvania County has survived its first legislative test.
Lawmakers are now recommending that the full General Assembly consider the creation of regulations for the mining of the radioactive ore. The Virginia Coal and Energy Commission yesterday voted in favor of creating regulations. Virginia Uranium is looking to mine and mill uranium in Pittsylvania County close to Danville.
