Local Firefighter Honored

The Bedford Fire Department’s assistant Chief has been honored for answering more than ten-thousand calls for the county. Russell Stevens joined the department in 1974. City officials say the volunteer agency typically runs more than 900 calls a year, and Stevens consistently responds to more than five-hundred of those. The Bedford Fire Department is also celebrating its 125th anniversary this year.
