New Assisted Living Facility Will Need To Find Another Location

The Campbell County Planning Commission Monday denied a rezoning application that would have allow for an assisted living facility and school for adults with mental disabilities to be housed at a former hotel and restaurant, located on Wards Road in the Spring Hill District. According to the president of Climbing Higher Ministries, the idea came about as a way to help people getting pushed out of other programs and facilities due to the closing of Virginia’s training centers. The commissioners acknowledged the need, but expressed worry about the location for the facility and its proximity to Rt. 29 as well as concerns regarding the septic tank’s inability to handle the waste at the proposed site. The ministry will continue to look for other locations.
