Prisoners Heading Back To Rustburg Detention Center

The Campbell County Adult Detention Center began transferring prisoners back to the Rustburg jail today. According to the News & Advance, the project which has had the facility closed since July. Renovations were funded through borrowed bond money left over from the construction of the regional jail in Amherst County that opened last year. About 90 percent of Campbell County inmates were housed at the Madison Heights jail. Authorities will continue moving prisoners back to the jail in the coming weeks and expect to have more than 100 offenders at the 132-bed site by the end of the month.
