Retailers Speak Out Against Sales Tax Increase

Retailers across the state have something to say about plans to raise the state’s sales tax. They are concerned that increasing the tax would hold down consumer spending. They also are worried about out of state retailers gaining more businesses since they don’t charge sales tax – and that includes Internet merchants. Governor Bob McDonnell is proposing an increase in the sales tax in order to help pay for transportation improvements.
