Senator Wants To Lift State’s Uranium Ban

Uranium mining supporters are drumming up backing for their cause. At a news conference at the Capitol yesterday, State Senator John Watkins of Powhatan said mining can be done safely. He emphasized that no one wants to sacrifice the environment or public health. Watkins intends to introduce a measure to lift the state’s more than three decade old ban on uranium mining.
