A Lowesville man will serve six months in jail and pay restitution of almost ten-thousand dollars after admitting in court that he stole copper wire, leading to power outages in the town of Amherst last spring. Twenty-six-year-old Kristoffer Balin pleaded guilty yesterday to the theft at Glad Manufacturing, which was forced to shut down and leave about one-thousand residents without electricity for up to 12 hours. Amherst police later connected Balin to the copper which turned up at a recycling business.
