One of the biggest complaints reported to the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries is hunters firing their guns from roadways. All year, conservation police officers are busy protecting the public, enforcing laws and helping keep hunters and boaters safe. But, the Department says out of all of the complaints they deal with–hunting season, bring the most and reports of roadway shooting is high on the list of concerns this time of the year. The ammunition used in some hunting rifles can be lethal up to 2 miles from where the shot originated; State officials say many may not realize the seriousness of the offense.
