Weather Experts Warn Of Severe Storm Potential

Spring-like temperatures and an approaching cold front will spark an unusually intense mid-winter storm system today. The front will continue to advance through the region this afternoon and is expected to last through much of tonight. Forecasters say severe weather is likely including thunderstorms and lightning—though the main threat, say weather experts, would be strong, damaging winds associated with the system. Gusts may top 60mph as the main line of rain enters the area between 4 and 8 this evening. While not likely, there is a slight tornado potential. The system is expected be out of the region by midnight. Once the cold front moves through it will leave behind much colder arctic like air.
