Wet January Helps Drought Conditions Across The Region

This month’s rain and snow have helped the dry conditions in the area. According to Virginia Cooperative Extension agents, the area was 15 inches below the average rainfall; the extra moisture was a benefit to area farmers. Until last week, many localities had gone about two months without significant rainfall. One negative to farmers with all the rain, is the wet conditions make it difficult to feed livestock.
