Appomattox council members will discuss how they should implement the state-mandated storm water program at their meeting tonight. Last year, the General Assembly voted to have localities assume the management of the programs, which previously were administered under the Department of Conservation and Recreation. Local governments across the state now have until July 1, 2014, to create their own program in compliance with state and federal regulations. According to the News & Advance, Council members will be presented with a draft resolution on storm water regulations. The program applies to developmental projects in which land is disturbed.
