Sam Moore Industries in Bedford continues to expand and is expected to do more hiring. The furniture plant has been in business for 70 years; the growth started five years ago when Sam Moore was purchased by Hooker furniture. Then in April, its product line was expanded. Hooker kept its production in the United States rather than outsourcing projects. More than 50 workers have been hired since 2007.The Bedford plant currently employs about 250 people. It’s the second-largest employer in Bedford City. Sam Moore plans to enter other markets and has been getting requests from vendors to do other types of upholstery.
