Carp Will Clean Up SML’s Unwanted Vegetation

The Tri-County Lake Administrative Commission is beginning final preparations for the introduction of sterile grass carp into Smith Mountain Lake. TLAC decided to introduce the carp this past year as a less expensive alternative to combating the spread of hydrilla. The carp will be introduced later this year at three yet-undetermined points along the Blackwater River portion of the lake and will expand out and find patches of the invasive aquatic vegetation.
