Several Halifax County students have been suspended for using spit-ball like shooters. The Gazette-Virginian reports students from Meadville Elementary School were accused of using “plastic straws, taking pens and colored pencils apart” and using them as a weapon. According to the article, the students were using bbs from an air gun as “ammunition” to shoot at other students on the bus and at recess. School administrators say the suspensions were to stress the system’s zero tolerance for weapons of any kind on school property. Law enforcement was not called to investigate the incident
