Governor Committed To Safer Campus For Schools

Governor McDonnell is introducing eight pieces of legislation designed to make Virginia’s schools and campuses safer. Highlights include measures to develop a critical incident response mode, requiring School Boards to create threat assessments teams and establish a fund to assist schools with security upgrades. In addition, there is legislation that would create a new criminal offense for entering a school while armed or in possession of an explosive device with the intent to commit a violent felony
