The Postal Service’s Lynchburg distribution center is scheduled to close down for good today. Last Saturday, the last of the Lynchburg equipment was moved into the Roanoke plant – to accommodate the extra one-million pieces of mail it will receive from Lynchburg. Postal workers tell WDBJ-7 they’ve heard that Roanoke facility might close this summer instead of next. The eventual plan is to have everything consolidated in Greensboro as a cost-saving measure.
