Police Warn Of Text Scam

Lynchburg residents are being warned of a text scam. Police say the texts read, quote, “BeaconCU Your Attention is needed” and then a telephone number is given. They say people should not call that number because they will be asked to give their bank and credit card information to someone who is not part of a credit union but is conducting a phishing scam.
