The Virginia Department of Transportation has approved a byway request from Campbell County. The process to have part of Route 24 designated a Virginia Byway began back in 2011. The section receiving the designation includes Route 24 from its intersection with U.S. 29 in Campbell County to its intersection with Route 43 in Bedford County, which is already designated a Virginia Byway. The Altavista Journal reports, the new designation would be included in the next publication of VDOT’s Map of Scenic Roads in Virginia. According to the article, VDOT will be placing the designation signs along the byway and will pay for them.
