State Lawmakers Move Forward Medicaid

Medicaid expansion is getting closer to becoming a reality. The state Senate yesterday voted to allow the Department of Medical Assistance Services to move forward with extending Medicaid coverage. Coverage would extend to tens of thousands of Virginians next January 1st if the state can get federal waivers to reform system regarding the disabled, elderly and the poor. Over a dozen senators spoke in favor of and against the expansion.
