Transportation Bill Faces Uncertain Future In House

The full Virginia Senate has approved an amended bill that would raise more than 900-million dollars a year for transportation needs. The “Richmond Times-Dispatch” reports the senate version that went through Wednesday includes a series of gas tax increases as well as a hike in the general sales tax and vehicle registration fees. The bill now heads back to the House, which is expected to reject the Senate’s changes. Lawmakers there cleared a bill earlier this session that was based on Governor Bob McDonnell’s transportation plan.
