Death Sentence Vacated For Local Man

Prosecutors say they will not seek the re-sentencing of a man convicted in the 2002 murders of a Lynchburg husband and his pregnant wife. Leon Winston was initially sentenced to death in the killings of Anthony and Rhonda Robinson and her unborn child, but an appeals court vacated the decisions, saying the defense team was ineffective in their representation. On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld that ruling, so Lynchburg prosecutors will instead ask for a sentence of life without the possibility of parole.
