Majority Support Background Check Before Gun Purchase

A new poll showed 89 percent of residents in the 6th District support criminal background checks for everyone buying a gun. The poll is being touted by the group Mayors Against Illegal Guns which has more than 800 members. But sixth district congressman Bob Goodlatte tells the News and Advance he’s skeptical of the results and is against universal background checks, calling them “too restrictive on the rights of law-abiding citizens to sell their property.”
