Slobberfest – let the slobbering begin!
Lynchburg, Virginia: The Lynchburg Humane Society will be holding their first ever Slobberfest on Saturday March 23rd at Peaks View Park from 10-2. What is a Slobberfest? Slobberfest is a fundraising event that goes to benefit the day to day operations of the Lynchburg Humane Society. The event will feature doggie olympic style events. The cost is a minimum pledge of $25 per dog and the family members that come along are free. Along with the fun field day events of the day they are having a scavenger hunt around Lynchburg that begins at 9 am and ends at 12 noon at Peaks View Park. Teams of up tofive people can compete for the first prize of $250.
The primary sponsor of this event is Peaks View Animal Hospital with Shelley Basinger from Abc13 as the master of ceremonies. Registration opens at 9:00 am along with the scavenger hunt. The field day events, will begin at 10:00. Dogs and lets face it, owners, will be competing in any or all of the events they want which include an agility course, Musical Hoops, Snoopy Says, Peanut butter Lick, Filla Fuller Brush Shedding, Tennis Ball Toss, Babe Ruth Obedience Baseball, Meatball Eating Contest, Frisbee Throw Competion, Red Light Green Light, Lure Course and a One Mile Race.
“This is going to a fun event that the whole family can enjoy”, says Makena Yarbrough, Executive Director. People are able to register on line at www.firstgiving.com/lynchburghumanesociety/pawsonpeaksview or they can come out the morning of the event and register on site. People and pets are welcome to come and cheer on the contestants for free. The event is rain or shine and all proceeds go to help the pets at the Lynchburg Humane Society.
