Bedford Town Council Authorized Staff Research for Possible Amtrak Stop

bedfordBedford Town Council has authorized staff to research the level of interest by business and the community for a possible Amtrak rail stop. Last year, the Department of Rail and Public Transportation announced plans of connecting Lynchburg and Roanoke by 2017, but the county received notification in February that DRPT, due to the lack of population, was not interested in a Bedford stop. Sources say while, council plans to execute a feasibility study on three sites; they did not agree to commit any money on Tuesday. Input on the project and a petition is available at www.thebedfordstation.com
