Amherst County Habitat for Humanity has suspended construction until next season. In normal years, work to build the homes would begin in March or April. But this year, at least one potential homeowner has been informed that the process will be delays due to funding concerns. The organization has built 32 homes locally; but organizers say construction on the newest home will not begin until the 2015 fiscal year. The New Era Progress reports, the nonprofit organization instead will provide critical housing repairs under its A Brush with Kindness program to members of the community who otherwise could not afford to pay for services, such as weatherization, painting, or fixing mold issues or water damage.
