The Lynchburg Humane Society won a $5,000 top prize in a national photo contest that garnered 24,970 votes, more than double the runner up. The ASPCA Rachael Ray challenge took 422 photo submittals from all across the country. The contest was connected to a “Summer of 1,000 Lives” fundraising campaign that started June, in which Lynchburg’s shelter seeks to win a $100,000. As of Tuesday afternoon the number of pets adopted so far in the campaign was 462. The campaign ends on August 31st.
