Segment 1 – Introduction- Rich and Dr. Mike Diminick briefly discuss what a concussion is, why they have been under diagnosed for so long, and the need for proper treatment.

Segment 2 – Rich and Dr. Diminick talk with Dr. William Meehan, the Director of The Sports Concussion Clinic at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard University, and author of the book “Kids, Sports and Concussion”. They discuss why concussions can be more serious in children, and how to treat kids once they suffer a concussion.

Segment 3 – Rich and Dr. Diminick talk with Chris Nowinski, Co-Founder of the Sports Legacy Institute and Co-Director of CSTE and discuss his experiences with multiple concussions while wrestling in the WWE and how that led him to focus his life on getting the word out and helping to research concussions and how they affect athletes.

Segment 4 – Rich and Dr. Diminick talk with Dr. Micky Collins, the Director of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Sports Medicine Concussion Center, and Co-Founder of IMPACT testing, and they discuss IMPACT testing and how this baseline test can help determine when athletes may have recovered from a concussion and how this tool can help to determine when the athlete can return to play.

Segment 5 - Rich and Dr. Diminick talk with EC Glass Trainer Jen Armstrong and Brookville Football Coach Jeff Woody about the awareness of concussions on the High School level, as well as what policies are currently in place to diagnose and treat concussions in the area on the High School level.

Segment 6 – Rich and Dr. Diminick talk with Dr. Stefan Duma, the Head of the VT-WFU School of Biomedical Engineering and Sciences about his football helmet safety research and ratings, and discuss his most recent study of 6-8 year old football players and the severity of collisions and head impact on youth football players.

Segment 7 – Rich and Dr. Diminick talk with Dr. Robert Cantu, Co-Director of CSTE and Co-Founder of The Sports Legacy Institute about his research studying the brains of deceased NFL players and the impact that concussions and brain trauma had on them, as well as getting his thoughts on the diagnosis and treatment of concussion and the impact concussions can have on children.

Segment 8 – Rich and Dr. Diminick recap the show and talk about the awareness of concussions and what the next steps are, as well as discussing how Dr. Diminick’s group, The Orthopedic Center of Central Virginia, will focus a portion of their resources on testing, diagnosing and treating concussions in Central Virginia.
