Details are being worked out regarding the upcoming sesquicentennial events in Appomattox County. The 150th anniversary of Lee’s surrender to Grant will be commemorated in April. On Monday, law enforcement encouraged county officials to address accommodation issues; such as making sure there is enough off-site parking and experienced parking attendants and to ensure there are enough shuttles to get people from the parking lots to activity sites. It was also proposed that a traffic specialist, liken to the company that oversaw this year’s traffic at Lockn’ festival, be hired to create a traffic and parking plan, so that the Virginia Department of Transportation and the state police can implement publish it.
