Shelters open for those who need a warm place to stay have seen an increase in sleepovers during this month’s plunge of polar temperatures. Lynchburg’s Salvation Army was at capacity yesterday with an increase in the number of guests looking for a warm place to stay out of the cold. The organization also provided coats, blankets and a warm meal. The Salvation Army of Lynchburg is located on Park Avenue and provides services; and programs to those in need in the City of Lynchburg and the surrounding Counties of Amherst, Bedford and Campbell. Frigid and blustery weather is expected to last through next week; anyone without heat is encouraged to visit the facility for a warm place to stay.
