Lynchburg City Council will hold a public hearing today and possibly vote on the comprehensive plan update. The recommended changes include promoting higher-density housing in select areas and expanding opportunities for mixed-use development. The comprehensive plan establishes a long-term vision for the city’s growth and land use. More information on the zoning ordinance update can be found at www.lynchburg2030.org.
Officials to Be Briefed on City’s Audit:
Lynchburg City Council is expected to be formally briefed today on the results of the city’s annual audit. The city still is calculating its surplus for the year. According to media outlets, the size of the surplus depends on multiple factors, including next year’s revenue expectations. The surplus will likely be reused for one-time projects and expenses in the next budget cycle. The audit results, which cover from July 2012 through June 2013, found no deficiencies.
