From the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office: We are investigating a marijuana growing operation found in the Monroe area of the county. On 10/14/2015, at approx. 11:50 a.m., Inv. E.W. Viar responded to a location in Monroe regarding potential marijuana being grown on private property. The property owner, had called after discovering the plants during maintenance to the grounds. Inv. Viar located 80 marijuana plants with an estimated street value of $24,000. The incident is under investigation and no charges have been made at this time.
