From the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office: The office is investigating a string of vehicle break-ins in the Lakeview Subdivision area of Madison Heights. The majority of these thefts occurred the night of November 11th and the early morning hours of November 12th. The suspect(s) are entering unlocked vehicles and removing various personal items. Stolen in these incidents are wallets, debit/credit/ebt cards, and a hand gun. The Sheriff’s Office requests anyone with information pertaining to these thefts or other crimes to contact the Sheriff’s Office Investigative Division at 434.946.9373. The Sheriff’s Office also reminds everyone to secure their vehicles not only at home but also while shopping this Holiday Season. If valuables must be left in the vehicle, place them out of sight. AND PLEASE DON’T leave firearms unattended in your vehicles. Remember to record serial numbers, along with the make and model of expensive items or take pictures if they do not have unique identifiers.
