Amherst county officials are mulling over the idea of a potential partnership between the county and its local chamber. The two entities began discussions, over a year ago, regarding developing a tourism program; earlier in the month, the Board of Supervisors was informed that the county’s Chamber of Commerce wants a leadership role and is ready to move forward with a tourism endeavor. According to the New Era Progress, the chamber has already met with the Virginia Tourism Corporation and is working toward a tourism development plan. Various requests and aspects of the proposal are being considered, such as the plans viability and financial allocations before a decision is made.
