Amherst County School Board has been presented with the potential of significant annual savings over the next 15 years, if recommended improvements are made. Last April, the Board of Supervisors, in cooperation with school officials authorized an energy efficiency audit of the infrastructure. The recently completed audit proposes two options up for consideration. According to the New Era Progress, some board members have requested more time to consider the project, saying that the division is faced with other costs such as roof repairs at certain schools. The school board is tentatively scheduled to consider the projects again at a meeting in March.
