Appalachian Power Co. is asking state regulators to approve two separate requests related to transmission line costs and infrastructure improvements. The other increase request before the Virginia State Corporation Commission– would allow the company to make improvements to an existing transmission line. The Associated Press reports, if approved, it could increase an average residential customer’s monthly bill by nearly $4 beginning in May. Regulators have scheduled a public hearing in Richmond on Feb. 13 on the transmission rate increase request. A public hearing on the transmission line improvements filing has not yet been scheduled.
