Central Virginia HealthThe Appomattox Animal Clinic is offering discounted rabies vaccinations for dogs and cats to help combat the disease that remains a constant threat in the area. In 2015, Central Virginia Health District (Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell counties as well as the City of Lynchburg) tested 34 animals positive for rabies. Although the main carriers of the disease are raccoons, foxes, and skunks, any mammal can catch rabies; bats, especially if found in a residence, can be of particular concern. One of the best methods of rabies prevention is to keep pets vaccinated. Rabies vaccination is highly effective, and can save the life of the pet as well as prevent the infection from spreading to other animals or humans

For a limited time, pet owners may receive discounted rabies vaccinations for their dogs and cats. The Appomattox Animal Clinic will offer $8 vaccinations on the days and times listed below.
